A column of jet beads, hand-knotted over silk cady.

Burnt-velvet tailoring cut on the bias, like a held breath.

A smoke-toned duchess satin, sculpted to catch candlelight.

Nocturne

The house's signature: a 4-metre train of pleated organza.

Lacquered wool with hand-painted gilt at the hem.

ii. — The Atelier, Paris

What is omitted is the work.

Nocturne is built by hand, in a single room above the Rue de Marignan, by fourteen artisans who have, between them, kept the house's techniques continuous since 1962. There is no machine for pleating here, no shortcut for the beadwork. The collection exists because these hands exist — and because the work refuses to hurry.

Hours of hand-work, per piece

180–420

Each piece demands between 180 and 420 hours of hand-work in the Paris atelier.

Hand-knotted beading

Jet and glass, knotted singly onto silk thread, fixed by hand to the cady.

Bias cutting

Velvet and satin cut on the cross, so the cloth falls with weight and memory.

Pleating & draping

Organza set by hand over a form, pleat by pleat, and left to take the room.
